Individual therapy with me is personalized to your specific needs. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Attachment Theory, Narrative Therapy, Relaxation Techniques, and Trauma-Focused Therapy.
I consider myself to be a very real therapist--I am a person first and a therapist second. I believe strongly in authenticity, and the relationship you build with me in the therapy room is real--I am the person I present to you in session. I won't tell you to do anything that I wouldn't do, I won't tell you that going outside or meditating with seashells on your eyes will solve all of your problems, and I am not on board with toxic positivity. I will partner with you to find the right mix of therapy to get you to where you want to be.
Some of the individual therapy specialties I have include:
Women and Women's Issues
Infertility
Adjusting to motherhood
Finding joy in motherhood (even though it is hard af)
Burn-out and stress
Managing the invisible load of your family
Balancing motherhood and career
Recovering from birth trauma, processing NICU experiences
Self-compassion (the antidote to self-image issues)
Shame work and recovery
Anxiety
Grief and Loss
Recovering from emotionally immature parents
Reparenting yourself following a neglectful childhood
Breaking patterns that are not serving you well
Stop the emotional manipulation and create boundaries
Create new parenting habits to prevent a repeating cycle
Parent Coaching is a skills-based educational service. Though there are often therapeutic elements to Parent Coaching, it is typically focused on acquiring skills. I believe strongly in an attachment-based and positive parenting approach. I partner with parents to identify boundaries that make sense for their family and work with them to explore logical consequences for failure to comply with rules. I believe in structure, logical but firm rules, natural consequences, and letting kids be kids. If this speaks to you, let's connect.
I offer three types of parent coaching at my practice:
Educational Sessions
After hearing from you about your general specific needs for parent coaching, I will prepare information and share in a series of sessions that are lesson-based. There will be opportunities for questions and discussion of the implementation of the skills specific to your family, but this type of parent coaching is for general parenting skills, not necessarily targeted at specific problems.
This is a great option for individuals who need parent education services for custody or court reasons (though I do recommend verifying what specific type of service is required for you).
Focus Sessions
In Focus Sessions, you come with a list of issues you're experiencing at home and we work together to develop plans to address these specific issues. A variety of parenting skills will be discussed with a focus on implementing skills that address specific issues you're experiencing at home.
In-Home Intensive Services
Have you ever seen Super Nanny? With In-Home Intensive Services, I will observe your parenting dynamics in your home, develop a plan for what skills you would like to improve, and offer in-the-moment coaching designed to support you in strengthening the delivery of boundaries, limits, encouragement, consequences, and other important parenting skills. This is a highly personalized service that is built based on your specific needs.
Parent Coaching is not a therapeutic service and therefore I can provide virtual Parent Coaching services to anyone, anywhere. Just give me a call.
Coparenting is hard. Whether or not your separation was amicable, it is still challenging to raise children in two separate households that may not always align. I can provide therapeutic support and skills-coaching to parents who want to do their best to work together in the best interest of their children.
Scenarios that I have seen with coparents in the past include:
Communication barriers that make decision-making challenging
Support in planning how to share the news of a separation or divorce with children
Disagreements about rules, expectations, and boundaries between households
Concerns about how one household manages an aspect of their child's life--for example, how homework is handled in one household or how one household handles participation in soccer
Introducing additional adults into the coparenting dynamic
Developing a communication system that is effective for all involved adults and never puts the child in the middle of adult concerns
How to discuss the other parent or household with your child
Mediation on issues--for example, creating a visitation schedule or adjusting a schedule to accommodate summer vacation schedules
I have over seven years of experience providing supervision to social workers. While my current service offerings focus on adults and relationships, my background is quite varied and I have extensive experience working with young children as well. I have treated a wide variety of conditions and disorders, including anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation, obsessive-compulsive disorder, ADHD, oppositional-defiance, trauma, and Bipolar disorder. I have also worked in a variety of settings, including non-profits, schools, psychiatric hospitals, and private practice. I would be happy to schedule a free consultation to see if we would be a good fit for supervision. I can provide both virtual and in-person supervision services.
Rate for Supervision: $125/hour
Telehealth is a perfect way to participate in therapy from the comfort of your own home. Snuggle up with your pets, wrap yourself in your coziest blanket, and work on improving yourself, all at the same time.
That's the benefit of teletherapy.
